Vernon Cottage in Shanklin on the Isle of Wight. A picture postcard perfect cottage set high on the hill running down to Shanklin Old Village.
My wife and I had dined here the night before, and sampled the beautiful food. Susan, the owner had enthusiastically told me of their friendly ghost, the long smuggler's tunnel running down to the Chine and her and hubby Paul's spiritual compulsion to buy the Cottage as soon as they saw it!
And it's no wonder why - I sketched the cottage early the next morning before opening hours, kindly supplied with fine coffees as fuel by Susan and Paul.
I must return, I hear the cake is well worth the visit on its own
